Hello, I'm Nick, and this is where I document rebuilding my narrowboat, Katona. It's a 70ft "cruiser stern," and weighs many tonnes: it was built with a poured-concrete ballast, and overplated with another 6 tonnes of steel in 2013.
I bought the boat in 2020, looking like this:
Yes, it had a full-sized bath! The windows also leaked quite a lot...
This is how I'm laying it out, which is vaguely similar to before:
After living on it happily for a couple of years, I started tearing it apart in 2022. It began looking like this:
There was a lot of rust, and with some elbow grease I turned it into blank canvas, ready for rebuilding:
And now I'm on the fun part, rebuilding. Here's the front cabin/bedroom:
