Hello! Happy Sunday :)

I was at the boat for a day this week and fit the other 3 solar panels, permanently with Sikaflex this time:

The gaps are for 2 more I'll order — I wanted the front and back ones down for cable length, and I'm doing 2 sets of 4 panels in parallel.

I was then away, first in Ireland and then Denmark this weekend, and not to miss out I went dinghy sailing in an Optimist with my cousin's son:

Water was almost coming over the bow, so we swapped around but even that was tight; crouched at the helm my legs were on fire.

And last night in a cognac-and-cigar fuelled conversation, the topic of cannons came up. A Danish man then turned to me and asked whether I had any cannons on Katona, and wondered why I didn't...

He was joking, but I woke up this morning — fresh faced and sober — wondering indeed, why didn't I have any cannons on Katona? I've considered this before, but this time I had the perfect idea: a tunnel light. The original plan was an old aviation lamp fitted with an LED, but why not a cannon?

So I have ordered a 4 foot replica (mount not included):

I'll mount it on the roof at the bow with an LED in the barrel, and I need to find the correct lens to shape the beam, and of course I'm making it dimmable. It's not actually cast iron but a strong plastic weighing 4kg, and I'll add some sand to densen it as well.

Until next Sunday!
