Sanding foam and the saloon ceiling

Hello! Happy Sunday :)

This week I've had a lot of work work, the boat-funding kind, but I still broke ground on the saloon ("lounge", "living room"), starting with the ceiling battens:

Followed by panelling, while ignoring my own advice about doing one thing at a time (I promise you there's a plan):

And with only a couple of weeks to move onboard I finally unrolled the foam mattress, then using an electric bread knife started rough-cutting it to shape:

It's great for consistent, meaty cuts, but for shaping not so much.

And early this morning, a quick detour to help on the ground with hot air ballooning:

It was fun to see a dozen inflate and take-off in quick succession!

Back onboard, I finished half of the panelling for the saloon ceiling, minus a thin strip on the right:

The visual progress feels so good! And then more mattress shaping:

The knife is fine for rough cuts, but those curves are a %!*@#. I've used a sanding disk on an angle grinder which kinda works, and is unbelievably messy.

Until next Sunday!
